Latest PV Moderne Info Booklet

PV MODERNE @ PORTOSANTO
Information

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
1. Download the WHATSAPP app. It’s a cheap way to text or talk locally or internationally. It’s also the easiest & fastest way to make contact with our Property Managers.
2. Download the UBER app. It might come in useful, and is lower cost than taxis.

ARRIVING AT PV AIRPORT
It’s a zoo. Be chill.
1. Be sure to have your Immigration and Customs forms completed while en route. Your local address is: 100 Paseo Las Garzas, #204, Zona Hotelera Norte, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco 48333.
2. The lines for Immigration are long but move quickly. Do not lose your copy of the Immigration Form as you need it at departure.
3. If you have checked bags, there are free trolleys located near baggage carousel 7.
4. Next is Customs. You will be required to tap a button which randomly selects passengers for physical baggage inspection.
5. After Customs is a raucous free-for-all section dedicated mostly to timeshare salesmen. Just say ‘no gracias’ to whomever approaches you.
6. Thereafter are the various ‘authorized’ taxi operators. Just choose one. They all seem to charge the same 375 pesos (C$30) rate. You will be escorted to a holding area on the sidewalk, where eventually a cab will come. Be patient. The arrival ‘challenge’ is nearly over, as the ride to PortoSanto takes about 10 minutes. Be generous to your driver, as he has probably waited for over an hour in the taxi holding pen for his turn!!
7. If the taxi driver is unclear as to where 100 Las Garzas is, tell him it’s in the Zona Hotelera Norte, near the Krystal Grand Hotel.

ARRIVAL AT PORTOSANTO
Las Garzas is a heavily cobbled dusty street, so be ready for some bumps in the last stretch of your ride!
Show your passport to the Security Guard in the lobby. He’ll give you the keys to unit #204, which is one level up. Use the elevator or short flight of stairs. Turn left for unit #204. There’s cold water at the water dispenser (note that water bottle refills are available from the Concierge Desk). There are maps on the white shelves.

CONDO WIFI
Search for INFINITUME000_5 or INFINITUME000_2.4 Note that _5 is faster, -2.4 gives a stronger signal.
Either way, PASSWORD: fwXa37xm5x

SAFE
Located in the bedroom closet. Inside, you'll find a card that shows the un-locking code. First test to see that it works as per these instructions, BEFORE placing anything in the Safe.
1. Close the safe door and turn the knob counter-clockwise. The safe is now locked.
2. To open: enter xxxx (code found on the card inside the safe) and then enter # on the keypad.
3. Turn the knob clockwise to open.
4. If all goes as expected, you are ready to use it.
5. In case of emergency, call Gema, the Property Manager. She has a master key.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Our property manager is Gema Ramos.
Her responsibility is to ensure that the condo is cleaned and serviced to receive guests.
If something needs attention, contact her at +52 1 322 245 1593
PortoSanto also has a Building Manager, Maria Fernanda, whose office is in the lobby. Contact her for water, power, gas issues, as she has a full-time Maintenance Technician at her disposal.

WASHER
Located in the closet next to the entrance door.
1. Place items into drum.
2. Insert a washing detergent pod (provided). Don’t put it in the blue cavity - just toss it in with the items to be washed.
3. Close lid.
4. Select washer cycle.
5. Select temperature.
6. Select load size.
7. Press start.
The washer makes some weird noises, but these are normal for this type of washer!

DRYER
1. Insert the washed items.
2. Close door.
3. Select required dryer cycle.
4. Press start.
Please don’t use any fabric softeners.
Please empty the lint tray from time to time.

DISHWASHER
Dishwasher detergent pods are in the cupboard to the right of the oven.
Please DO NOT wash the wine glasses in the dishwasher - they’re too fragile. Also, note that it takes about 15 seconds for the dishwasher to make a noise after activation. Don’t worry if you hear nothing at first.

CEILING FANS
The wall switches with RED dots control the power to the fans. Do not switch these off. If you want to switch off the fan, use the fan Remote Control’s on/off button. Use the Remote to also switch on the fan’s centre light.

KEEPING IT COOL
Besides the fans and AC, it helps if at night, you lower the living room blinds, to shield out the early morning sun.
The same AC Remote is used in both living room and bedroom. Simply point it at the wall AC unit and depress the red button.

BBQ
Please, PLEASE turn the gas off at the TANK after use. Bbq tools are in the cupboard below the grill.
Please pull the BBQ away from the wooden patio dividing wall, as the heat can scorch the wall.

BEACH GEAR
There are 2 beach chairs and an umbrella in the laundry closet. There are melamine plates and cups, and sealable containers in the kitchen cabinets. A beach bag, rug and beach towels are in the console cabinet (left side). An insulated cooler is in the right side of the console cabinet, and ice packs are in the freezer.

BATHING IN THE ROOFTOP POOL
Here you’ll find 3 pools: jacuzzi, kids, adults. There’s also a gym, sauna, toilets and showers. Note that glass is not allowed on the Rooftop. Bring your own towel. Sunrise and sunset can be spectacular as the rooftop offers 360-degree views.

Rooftop WIFI: Search for INFINITUM 0434_2.4 or INFINITUM 0434_5
PASSWORD: sny684PTH9

CONDO QUIRKS:
-EN-SUITE BATHROOM
Does not have an extractor fan, so during the day, open the high-level window. But close it at night for better soundproofing. Turn the handle 180 degrees to open/close. (A 90-degree turn does strange things).
-BEDROOM LIGHTING
When going to bed, switch off the ceiling lights at the switch at the door, and then use the ceiling fan Remote to switch on the fan light. Take the Remote to your bedside table. This way when you want to sleep you can switch off the light from your bedside.

AUDIO
Connect your phone to our Bose speaker. It’s located in the corner of the living room, next to the green sofa. To connect, depress the speaker’s Bluetooth button. Then search for Bluetooth devices on your phone and connect to BOSE RESOLVE SOUNDLINK.

VIDEO
There are 2 Tv's - in the bedroom and in the living room. There is no cable service. However, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are available from the LG TV’s built-in streaming system. (See below). It is also possible to ‘mirror’ whatever you can view on your smartphone onto the TV screen (see instructions for an iPhone below).

1. NETFLIX and Amazon PRIME VIDEO:
Using the LG remote, depress the red power button at top left, which after a few seconds shows some lovely photos, with a message NO SIGNAL. Ignore this message.

On the remote: tap NETFLIX. Then tap the button with the 2 concentric circles to select PV MODERNE, which will open your NetFlix options.

Or tap the remote’s PRIME VIDEO button, which will display the Prime Video options available.
To exit, tap the remote’s EXIT button.
Depress the remote’s red power button to switch off.

2a. iPHONE (or iPAD) MIRRORING to BEDROOM TV
On your iPhone or iPad (which needs to be connected to the condo’s INFINITUME000_2.4 wifi network), access the ‘widget’ screen.
Tap SCREEN MIRRORING.
Tap [LG] webOS TV UM7310PUA.
This causes the TV to automatically switch on and mirror whatever is visible on your iPhone or iPad, including video.

2b. iPHONE (or iPAD) MIRRORING to LIVING-ROOM TV
On your iPhone or iPad (which needs to be connected to the condo’s INFINITUME000_2.4 wifi network), access the ‘widget’ screen.
Tap SCREEN MIRRORING.
Tap [LG] webOS TV UR7800PSB.
This causes the TV to automatically switch on and mirror whatever is visible on your iPhone or iPad, including video.

GETTING AROUND
⁃ TAXIS are usually in abundance. As you exit the building, turn left. There’s a taxi rank outside the Oxxo; at the entrance to the Krystal Grand Hotel; and where the road intersects with the main road. Meters are not used. Rates depend on the general area served. For further info, go to Taxis

⁃ UBER is available. Rates are good, for example a taxi to Downtown South is 150 pesos versus 135 pesos via Uber.

⁃ BUS is a very cheap way to get around. The rate is 10 pesos per person - no change given.
To get to Downtown from the Hotel Zone take the bus that says ‘CENTRO’ - it will take you through Downtown and on to the South Side terminal.
The ones which have ‘TUNEL’ bypass Downtown, but will still end up on the South Side. So if that’s where you want to go it’s faster than going through Downtown and you will see another side of Puerto Vallarta.
These signs are usually at the bottom of the front window.
The poorly-designed link below gives advice on how to navigate: Bus Info

⁃ BIKE rentals are available at Xiutla Riders. One can ride on a dedicated bike-lane along the Malecon. For details visit Bike Rentals

NEIGHBOURHOOD LANDMARKS
-In front of PortoSanto, but to the left are the three ICON towers; south of them is the KRYSTAL GRAND Hotel; south of the Krystal Grand is another Krystal hotel and the three PENINSULA towers; next is the LA ISLA shopping centre.

-To the north of Porto Santo are the CROWN PARADISE Resorts; the CRUISE ship terminal; WALMART and the LIVERPOOL Department Store.

-Next door to PortoSanto is the CHEDRAUI supermarket. It is easily accessible. When exiting the lobby turn right, and immediately right again. You will see a narrow alley that wends its way to supermarket. It’s well-used, but if you’re not comfortable, after exiting the lobby to the right walk north on Las Garzas and take the first right.

BEACHES WITHIN A 3 MINUTE WALK
-Exit PortoSanto turning left. Turn right at the Oxxo store. Follow the ‘fuschia’ road as it veers right. Take first left: a sandy access path to the Playa d’Oro Beach. At this juncture there are 2 options:

-Turn right to access the calmer waves of the Paradise Golden beach, where you can rent a catamaran, kayak or paddle board. Best swimming is alongside the jetty. -Turn left for a nice walk along the Icon, Krystal and Peninsula beaches.

BEACHES THAT NEED A TAXI RIDE
Our favourite is Amapas beach in the Romantic Zone.

PUBLIC MARKETS
-Olas Altas - Romantic Zone
9am - 2pm Saturdays.
A substantial number of food stalls, as well as handicrafts and artwork. Worth a visit.

-Marina
6pm - 10pm Thursdays
Pretty much a repetition of the Olas Altas vendors, but easier to navigate. Worth a visit. A nice stroll as well.

-La Cruz Sunday morning. See below under “Day Trips”.

WALKS AND HIKES

- LOCAL BEACH WALK
From the Playa d’Oro beach down the street from the condo, turn left (head south) for a nice walk along the Icon, Krystal and Peninsula beaches. Then wade across the shallow lagoon, and immediately turn left at the El Oasis del Holi cafe. Head inland along the paved pathway to the main road. (To your right is the La Isla Shopping Centre). At the main road, turn left, crossing the bridge. There’s a Starbucks, followed by the Peninsula Centre, where the Canadian Consulate is located. Continue on, passing the Krystal Resort. At the next intersection (Calle Aguilas) turn left heading toward the Krystal Grand Hotel and the Icon towers. The road takes a right turn and becomes Calle Las Garzas. PortoSanto is about 70 meters further.

 - MALECON BOARDWALK
Get there by taxi or bus (see below) or car. The walk is 20 blocks, 1 mile along the seashore.
The “traditional” stretch begins at 31 de Octubre street, right next to the Rosita hotel (one block away from the Miguel Hidalgo plaza and underground parking garage), and continues southbound for several blocks as far as the Los Arcos public amphitheater. Beyond Los Arcos, the “new” Malecón continues southbound until the Isla Río Cuale pedestrian bridge.
The walkway continues into Emiliano Zapata, ending at the Lázaro Cárdenas plaza and underground parking garage. Beyond this point, the promenade narrows to a sidewalk, continuing south along Los Muertos Beach until you reach Los Muertos Pier.

- ART WALK - is a self-guided 90 minute walk in Centro, which is home to at least 12 galleries that showcase the best of Mexican art. The galleries are open Wednesdays 6-10pm. For further info, and map, visit Art Walk and More on Art Walk

= VALLARTA FOOD TOUR - a 3.5 hour walk. For details visit Food Tour

= BOCA DE TOMATLAN HIKE to Las Animas - is a 8km out and back trail located just south of Puerto Vallarta, that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. For details and comments from hikers, visit Boca Hike
